Jaclyn the Clown, and Other Oddballs
The kimono I am wearing above is an antique one I bought at an ichiya--a flea market--in Tokyo for a few dollars. Those little dots on it are all hand-knotted and tie-died. I get to wear it only for Halloween, when I don my middle-aged geisha trappings (sans whiteface).
Would you believe I made Jaclyn's clown costume? Store-bought Halloween costumes are so cheesy. And when you make it yourself, you can dare to be wacky--plus, it's decorating on the cheap. I have to admit, when Jaclyn looked overjoyed to put on her clown suit, I was thrilled too!
